Stuart R. Rau, 78, of 251 Frost Circle, Williams Bay, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. Stuart was born June 15, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Wm. F. and Hazel (Merrill) Rau. Stuart served in the U.S. Army during 1945 to 1947. While at the UW, he was managing editor of the "DAILY CARDINAL." He graduated from UW's college of Journalism in 1953. In his professional life, Stuart was partner in Rowling, Rau and Davis Advertising which operated in the Walworth Co. area for many years. Stu, as he was fondly called, was President and member of the Walworth Co. Arts Council, member of the Church of the Holy Communion (Episcopal) of Lake Geneva, and active in and on Board of Directors of the AIDS Resource Center. Stu is survived by his friend, companion, and lifelong partner, Dale Hagan of Wms. Bay; 5 nieces: Laura (David ) Baker Algrem of Wautoma, WI, Susan (Fred) Baker Campo of Oshkosh, WI, Nancy (Peter) Baker Knutson of Fond du Lac, WI, Elizabeth (Larry) Baker Senderhauf of Phoenix, AZ, Katherine (Douglas) Baker Holicky of Gilbert, AZ; special friend of Nancy and James (surrogate son) Wallace of Oregon, WI; and a host of friends.
