Tricky was born on the family farm in Mason Township, the daughter of Herman & Caroline Reinholt Johnson. Tricky grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On September 18, 1949 she and Richard Joosten were married at her parents farm. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton and raised a son, Larry. They later divorced. Tricky worked at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington, MN for 25 years. Due to her father's death, Tricky quit working to care for her mother. Tricky was devoted to her parents and to Larry's family. In 2010 Tricky became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton. She was a member of Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton and served as Sunday school secretary and treasurer for many years. Tricky also was active with the Ladies Aid. Tricky enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and cooking.

Survivors include her son, Larry Joosten and his wife, Karen.

Tricky's siblings include Lloyd and Eileen Johnson, Ray Johnson, Milford Johnson, Bernice and Harold Schafer, and Earl and Shirley Johnson, Virgil Johnson, & Violet Eichten.

Funeral services were held from Lake Sarah Baptist Church in rural Slayton, MN on December 29, Rev. John Lassen officiating.
