Bob's legacy was displayed early Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, when he peacefully entered heaven's gates with his family by his side at his home.
Bob Hill was born April 3, 1949, in Lake City, Iowa to Lawrence and Elizabeth (O'Toole) Hill. In 1957 the family moved to a farm near Iona. Bob graduated from Fulda High School in 1967. Shortly thereafter he met Mary Buse, the love of his life, and they were married on Aug. 3, 1968, at St. Columba Church in Iona. Bob served in the United States Navy and was passionate about serving his country. He was a man of faith, integrity, and moral character. Family was extremely important to Bob. He continually invested time in making memories with his wife, children and grandchildren. Learning was always apart of spending time with Bob. If he wasn't teaching you directly, he was teaching indirectly by example especially when it came to spiritual matters. Bob loved hunting exotic animals, catfishing, and shooting sporting clays, playing golf and traveling with Mary. He made it a priority to live life to the fullest. He owned and operated Hill Refrigeration for 37 years, which he proudly passed on to his grandson, Ethan Hill. He also owned a Network marketing business for many years where he developed life-long friends. Bob made a personal commitment to Jesus and desired all of his family and friends to experience that same relationship with Christ. When asked how he was doing, he would frequently say that he was "Blessed and highly favored."
Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife of 43 years Mary Hill; his four children, Rob (and Merry) Hill of Brookings, S.D., Barry (and Alyssa) Hill of Indianola, Iowa, Angie (and Jason) Heezen of Plankinton, S.D., and Karen (and Ryan) Gray of Porter; 12 grandchildren, Ethan, Megan, Luke, and Gracie Hill, Amelia, Anna and Abigail Hill, Cody, Emma and Noah Heezen, Monica and Trevor Gray; and four brothers and one sister, Richard (and Alda) Hill, Dan (and Maggie) Hill, Harold (and Jinny) Hill, Marilyn (and Ed) Herrig, and Lawrence (and Linda) Hill.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Janice Palmer.
