God called another one of his angels home this morning March 27, 2011 to be with family and friends that have been awaiting her arrival.
She is survived by three loving daughters, Patti Gortney of Red Hill, Sue Wiseman of Jupiter, FL, and Renita Yelton of Mine Creek, three sons in law who thought the world of her: Larry Gortney, Douglas Wiseman, and Wade Yelton, seven grandchildren, Todd and wife Ginger Gortney, Chris and Yvette Gortney, Susan and husband Mackie Callahan, Eric and wife Stephanie Wiseman, Patrick and wife Sara Grinestaff, Austin and Autumn Yelton, ten great grandchildren, Michael Gortney, Cecily Strickland and husband Ray, Marissa and Matthew Trull, Marti, Ashley, Samantha, and Jackie Wiseman, Skylar and Hayden Grinestaff, two great grandchildren, Jaid and Delilah, brothers, Jake Bennett, Buster and wife Wanda Bennett, sisters, Louise Gardner, Mary Ella and husband Jack Lane, nieces, Rhonda, Judy, Cathy, Brenda, Teresea, and nephews, Buddy Bennett and Cody Reynolds all of which she dearly loved and they loved her.
She was born in Yancey County to the late Fulton and Inez Peterson Bennett.
She was a Member of Vians Valley Presbyterian Church and had previously worked in the Mitchell County School System in the Lunchroom.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ozell Johnson and George Forster, and sister, June Bennett.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 8:00PM in the Chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, NC. Randy Bonner will be officiating the service.
Interment will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00AM in the Peterson Cemetery on Peterson Branch Road.
Maw Maw retired from the Mitchell County School System where she worked in the Lunchroom at Gouge Elementary School and loved seeing every little face that went through the lunch line. She will be missed by all that knew her, but we can take comfort in knowing we will see her again one day.
