Met A Tragic Death __ A. Gaddini Crushed Beneath Car Wheels While Crossing Track.
A. Gaddini, a section hand, met a tragic death in the yard here Monday Morning.
He was working on a sidetrack near the roundhouse with some other men and crossed the main track to the opposite side. In returning he started to step across the track just behind a train of cars that was backing slowly. It was cold and he had his cap drawn down over his ears and did not notice the cars so close to him. Two men on top the car saw him and shouted to him to get out of the way but he did not hear them and was struck by the car, knocked down and run over. It derailed the car and stopped the train but when the men reached Gaddini the poor fellow was dead. He had received a severe bruise on the left side of the neck and jaw, his back was struck and perhaps broken while the wheels had crossed his legs below the knees, the latter doubtless caused the derailment.
Dr. Shoemaker was summoned but there was no need for his services as the man had been killed instantly.
The body was taken in charge by Deputy Coroner McDougald.
Deceased was a native of Italy and about 38 years of age. He had been in the employ of the railroad company here all summer and was a good hand faithful and reliable. He lived with his brothers-in-law, the Morri Brothers. He had a wife and four children in the "Old Country" to whom he sent his earnings and this makes his death all the sadder.
An inquest was held Monday evening and the evidence was in accordance with the fact given above. The Jury brought in a verdict of accidental death and exonerated the railroad employees of all blame. The funeral will take place this afternoon from the Catholic Church. The priest from Reno came up to officiate in the absence of Father Gleeson.

You would have thought the railroad company would have bought him a headstone. So sad. RIP|
