GREENSBORO — Callie Addington Phipps departed her life on Friday, July 11, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday July 18, at Holmes Grove United Methodist Church, 1100 Alamance Church Road. Rev Homer Dawkins will officiate. Interment will follow in White Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Callie Addington Phipps was born April 6, 1918, in Macon County, Franklin, N.C., to the late Colonel Addington and Mrs. Julia Johnson Addington. Upon moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, she was united in Holy matrimony to the late Herbert Phipps.

She began her walk with the Lord at an early age. She was caring and humble and shared her blessings with others. We are thankful to God for allowing her to touch the lives of her loved ones, including her nieces and nephews, and all others around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and two brothers.

Rejoicing in her memory are her favorite nieces and nephews, Bobby Addington (Becket'), of Greensboro, Shirley McDonald (Robert) of Liberty, N.C., Carolyn Myers (James) of High Point, Thomas Addington of High Point, Ella Ree Garner (Jock) of Snow Camp, N.C., Rev. Darrell Addington (Laura) of Greensboro and Sarah Goodman (Marc) of Thomasville, N.C.; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family is being served by Allen and Associates Mortuary, Inc., 508 Summit Avenue.
