The Bland Courier, Bland, MO, Page 6, Thursday, Feb. 09, 1939: LUM MEYERS DIES NEAR VIENNA: Columbus C. Myers, age 86 of near Vienna, died Saturday night [Feb 4, 1939] at the home of his stepdaughter, Mrs. William Shockley.

He was first married to a Miss King [Mary Ann] and of this marriage five children were born, two daughters and a son of whom are deceased. Two sons, Joe and Van Myers, both of Merrill, Oregon, survive with a number of grandchildren. He was married after the death of his first wife to Ellen Coates Gillispie, who preceded him in death several years ago. Four stepchildren, Orpha Shockley, with whom he made his home, Viva Copeland, Jesse Gillispie and Henry Gillispie are among those who mourn his passing.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at Bend by Fred Gillispie and burial was in the Carnes Cemetery.
