WOODVILLE - A young boy name Anderson, of Pinfold Road, was drowned in a small creek close to the house

Woodville Examiner, 30 Sep 1903
THE INQUEST - An inquest touching the death of James Robertson Anderson, who was drowned in a creek near his father's residence on Pinfold Road on Monday, was held before Mr Coroner Gothard yesterday. Mr R. Fennell was foreman of the jury.
Deceased's mother gave evidence to the effect that he was five year old. He, in company with two older brothers was playing about the house about midday. Witness did not miss him until her daughter came in and said he was drowned in Prebble's creek.
Alexander Anderson, brother of the deceased, deposed that he and his two brothers and sister went away from the house about dinner time to go on to Prebble's hill. While crossing the creek on a log deceased slipped and fell into the creek, which was in flood. He was carried down stream. Witness went to try and get him out, but could not reach him and he disappeared. Witness was eight years old.
Constable Brosnahan deposed to finding the boy about a half a mile from where deceased had fallen in. He tried to restore animation, but was unsuccessful.
The jury returned a verdict "That deceased was accidentally drowned in Prebble's creek and that the jury wished to express their appreciation of the bravery and presence of mind of Alexander Anderson, brother of deceased, in his endeavour to rescue deceased."
The foreman of the jury was instructed to write to the Mayor with a view to representations being made in the proper quarter with regard to Alexander Anderson's brave attempt to rescue his brother
