Lester W. Bales, 96, of The Greenshed Community passed away July 3, 2012 at Asbury Center at Baysmont after a period of declining health.

Lester was born August 7, 1915 in Greene County, TN. He retired from Eastman Kodak after nearly forty years. After retirement he became a full-time farmer, raising pure bread Angus cattle. He was a member of Greene County and American Angus Associations, Greene County Fair Board and served as an Elder of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Church Cemetery Committee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Keys Bales; parents, Grover Cleveland and Nora Conkin Bales; two sisters, Wanna Hite and Bonnie Bailey; and two brothers, Marion Bales and Howard "Jack" Bales.

Lester is survived by his son, Larry Bales and wife, Alice of The Greenshed Community; grandsons, Larry Wade Bales, Jr. of Greeneville and Charles "Charlie" Bales and wife, Ruth of Fall Branch; great-grandsons, Alan Bales and Laten Bales of Greeneville; special nephews, Jonathan & Mike Bailey; special niece, Paula Hinson; and special friend and caregiver, Donna Foxx.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5th, from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Rocky Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, July 6th at 9:30 am at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16340 Kingsport Highway, Fall Branch, TN 37656 or to the charity of one's choice.
