Ella Leah Churchwell, widow of Bert Churchwell, former railroad man who at one time operated the hardware store at Mill Shoals, died in Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1893, the daughter of James & Amira Files Johnson. She was married to Bert Churchwell in 1912. He died over 5 years ago.

For many years, Mrs. Churchwell and her family lived near Hurst & Bush, IL, while he was employed with the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

In 1967 they moved to Fairfield following retirement.

Mrs. Churchwell was a 50 year memeber of the Eastern Star and belonged to the Mill Shoals Christian Church.

Surviving her is a son, Barton, and two grandsons & one great-grandchild.

Services were held at the Mill Shoals Christian Church with burial in Antioch Cemetery.
