Chris "Back Street Boy" Marquez, 17, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, July 10

Chris was born in Las Vegas on June 27, 1984, and was the son of Elizabeth Marquez.

He was a junior at West Las Vegas high school and was employed by the KFC Summer Employment Program.

A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of the Immaculate Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather Silviano De Herrera, grandmother Josephine Marquez; aunts Theresa Garcia and Bertha Maestas; uncle Alex De Herrera.

He was a loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, godson and friend. He was known for his personality. He enjoyed playing sports

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Liz Martinez and Paul, both of Las Vegas; brothers and sister Joseph P. Martinez, Moises (Moe-Moe) Martinez and Shannon (Mula) Martinez, all of Las Vegas; grandfather Carlos Marquez Sr., uncle Carlos Marquez Jr. and wife Rose; cousins Christal Marquez, Carlos Marquez III and Spring Marquez, all of Las Vegas, family friends Martha Crespin and Melissa Crespin of Las Vegas; Godfather Patrick Lucero Sr. and Naomi; godbrothers Michael Lucero and Patrick Lucero Jr.; both of Las Vegas; other cousins: Chris Romo, Kenny (Kendo) Maestas, Arnold Maestas and family, Florencio Garcia and wife Estella, Frank Garcia, Maria Garcia, Carlos Mondragon and wife Katie and family, Sanchez families and DeHerrera families and many more.

Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Friday evening at 7 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday morning at 11 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Vincent P. Chavez a celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santo Nino Cemetery in Buena Vista with the following serving as casket bearers; Timothy Martinez, Florencio Garcia, Frank Garcia, Ernest (Popo) Mondragon and Chris Romo. Serving as honorary bearers Steven Gabaldon, Matt Gabaldon, Gary Gabaldon, Peter Lovato, Chuzay Padilla and Freddie Mendoza.

The eulogy will be delivered by Michael Lucero Fall by the rosary at the graveside. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Mortuary, Las Vegas, 1-800-479-3511
