DEATH OF "JUDGE" ADAMS
Octogenarian Pioneer of County Goes to Last Rest
Amos P Adams, familiarly known as "Judge" Adams, a pioneer of the county, died in this city last Monday from a complication of diseases due to extreme age; he was 85 years old.
Mr Adams came to Tuolumne in 1850. He first engaged in mining, then in the saw mill business on a small scale. For a number of years he made Sonora his home, a large portion of the time being employed in the Yosemite livery stable by City Marshall W H Dennis when that gentlemen owned the establishment. Adams was once elected Justice of the Peace of the 1st township, which includes Sonora. He was a good hearted, honest old man and was well liked by his many friends.
Deceased was a member of a Nevada Lodge of Odd Fellows, s his funeral held Wednesday was conducted under the auspices of Sonora Lodge No 10. Internment was made in the fraternity's cemetery.
