A retired construction worker and a resident and native of Erwinville, Herbert "Point" Maze, Sr. died at 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at his home. He was 75.
Visiting at Hall's Celebration Center, 9348 Scenic Highway. Religious service at Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Erwinville, conducted by the Rev. Joe Paul. Interment in church cemetery.
He is survived by seven daughters, the Rev. Lois Washington, Baton Rouge, and Rose Martin, Betty Wilson, Gertrude Anderson, Lee Ann Maze, Olevia Maze and Michelle Williams, all of Erwinville; three sons, Herbert and Johnny Maze, both of Erwinville, and Willie Maze Sr., Baton Rouge; two stepsons, James Jones Jr., Fayetteville, N.C., and Joseph Jones, Prairieville; sister, Annie Mae Bell, Baton Rouge; stepsister, Lubertha Nicholas, Erwinville; stepbrother, David Nicholas, Port Allen; 40 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his mother, Leann Curtis; father, Johnny Maze; son, James "Tubby" Williams; daughter, Shirley Ann Gibson; stepson, Roger Jones; stepsister, Corrine Nicholas; and aunts, uncles and nephews.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
