Bowing to the eternal will of God, Henry G. Alderson (H.G.) departed this life, and passed into the Great Beyond at 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 1985 at age 71 years. Henry was born in South Boston, VA to Samuel and Ella Alderson. He completed his early education in the schools of South Boston and was a World War II veteran, from which he received on honorable discharge. At the age of seventeen he left south Boston for New York, where he spent his early life. While there he joined Grace Baptist Church. He was also a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In New York Henry worked for General Motors in Terrytown. After retirement he returned to South Boston. H.G. was a loving and kind brother and uncle, and he was loved by everyone. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Viola Carrington of South Boston and Mrs. Nannie Alderson Afford of Mt. Vernon, NY; two brothers, Joseph Alderson of Red Oak, VA. and Louis Alderson of Mt. Vernon, NY; many nieces and nephews and devoted cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
