Folsom cemetery is the burial place for the great Methodist Missionary and religious leader Willis F. Folsom.
He established the first school at Pocola, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, and the first Methodist Mission at that place. He preached at the Skullyville school for girls "New Hope", at regular intervals.
He was a Methodist Preacher for fifty-two years, and wrote a Choctaw Dictionary so he could preach in both the English and Choctaw languages.
His children were:
1. Arnold, born in Choctaw Nation, I.T., 1844.
2. Isaac, married Nellie McDaniel.
3. George, born at Panola, I.T.
4. James (Jimmie).

Franklin Pierce Hickman, older brother of Eugene A.
Hickman. Serena and Frank were married by Frank's
1st cousin, A. Frank Ross.
Note: The Oklahoma Historical Society erected a large
granite monument in honor of Rev. Willis Folsom
alongside Hwy 112 in Pocola,Ok., and only a short
distance to the east (approx. 200 yards) of the
monument is the Folsom cemetery. This cemetery
is abandoned and neglected and unless it is
cleaned up and restored, will soon fade away, and
only memories will remain.
Rev. Willis F. Folsom is buried in an unmarked grave here in Folsom Cemetery. Other researchers suggest he may be buried near Wilburton, Ok. in the Panola Cemetery.
Note: If anyone can provide proof that Willis Folsom is buried elsewhere other than this cemetery, I will either remove this post or change information to get the facts straight. MS
