Henry (known as Cecil during the early portion of his life) was born in Oklahoma and moved to Sedona, Arizona with his family in the early 1930s where, except for his military service, he lived for the rest of his life. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Henry was married to Gertrude Mary (Kurtz) Thompson (widow of Washington Green Thompson) on 14 October 1950 in Prescott, Arizona. The marriage did not last and Henry and Gertrude eventually separated and were probably divorced (no record found). There were no children.

Called "Red" because of his rust colored hair, Henry was well know to everyone in Sedona as a general handyman and the first "Litter Lifter" for Keep Sedona Beautiful.

Henry died at the Veterans Hospital in Prescott, Arizona. The reason for the spelling of Henery on his headstone is unknown. It does not appear in any other document or article.
