Bertha L. Ames, 93, of Titusville RD 5, died at 4:20 am Saturday, April 3, 1993, in Venango Manor, where she'd lived since May 8, 1992. Born Dec. 3, 1899 in Meadville, she was a daughter of Virgil and Louise Chalot Popeney.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Oil City.
She married Clinton N. Ames June 9, 1917 in Frenchtown, and he died July 6, 1984.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Glenn (Dorothy) Deets, Miss Helen J. Ames, and Charles J. Ames, all of Titusville RD 5, Miss B. Jean Ames of Erie, and Edward C. Ames of Oil City RD 1; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Virgil R. Ames and Donovan C. Ames; three brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be at 11 am Tuesday in St. Stephen's Church with Rev. Charles Skinner, pastor, celebrating the mass. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery at Dempseytown.
