Mrs. Margaret Swaim Charles, 81, of Winston-Salem died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Forsyth County to the late Charlie Clinton and Rosa Victoria Patterson Swaim. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 37 years of service. Her husband, George E. Charles, preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother, John W. Swaim; a nephew, Johnny R. Swaim; a special friend of Margaret and girlfriend of Johnny, Kim Lineberry; a niece, Linda Swaim; a sister-in-law, Lillie B. Swaim, all of Winston-Salem; a great-niece, Lauren Hilbert; and two great-nephews, Matthew and Wesley Swaim. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joe Collins and the Rev. E. Lee Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 21, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family requests that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
