John was the son of John Arnold Jr. and Mary Arnold. He was born at St. Mary-of-the-Woods. He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 13, 1956 to Dec. 8, 1959 aboard the USS Haley. He was married for 56 years to Louise Younger, they were married while serving in the Military on Oct. 5, 1957l.
John worked many years in the copper mine at Silver Bell, Ariz.. He worked for a time at Anaconda Aluminum in Terre Haute, Indiana when they moved back to St. Mary-of-the-Woods then he moved to Hurley, N.M. and worked in a copper mine, then moved back to St. Mary-of-the-Woods for retirement.
John was a member of St. Mary-of-the-Woods Village Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Mother Theodore Council 541 in Terre Haute, he was a 4th degree knight, and had served as Grand Knight of the Council. He had volunteered at the Providence Food Pantry in West Terre Haute.
