Roy E. Chandler, 79, of St. Albans, WV died December 22, 2007 at CAMC-Memorial Division, Charleston, WV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Alford Chandler and his sister, Pauline Jones and his parents, Roy Ray and Audrey Mable Sanson Chandler.
Roy was retired civil service at the Ordnance Center, South Charleston and had also worked as a railroad engineer. He served his country with the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the St. Albans moose Lodge and the Nitro Community Center.
Throughout his life, Roy was an inspiration and mentor to many people in the automotive industry. His passion for automobile inspired his family, especially his son and grandson.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Deloris Hudson; his son, Greg Chandler and his wife, Carol of St. Albans, WV; his daughters, Debbie McKean and her husband, Rick of St. Albans, WV, Sandy Conner and her husband, Clifford of Cross Lanes, WV; his sisters, Catherine White, Sue Lively and Mildred McCallister all of St. Albans, WV; his brother, Paul Chandler of Hampton, VA; his grandchildren, Mike and Tiara Chandler, J. R. Webb and Danielle Conner; three great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews..
Service will be 10:00am Monday, December 24, 2007 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, WV with Rev. J. David Pence officiating. Burial will be in the Alford Cemetery, Hurricane, WV. Friends may call from 7-9pm Sunday at the funeral home.
