Truel Andrew Boyer was born April 18, 1919, to Andrew Boyer and Ida Hembree Boyer north of Hartville, Missouri. He passed from this life Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

Truel's parents died when he was very young and he was raised by an aunt and uncle, Tom and Dora Davis. On September 3, 1943, he married Nita Lawson and to their marriage two sons were born.

Truel and Nita lived most of their married life in Missouri. They lived in California and Washington from 1949-1950 but then returned to Missouri where Truel worked as a diesel mechanic at Ft. Leonard Wood. In 1956, he earned a citation from the Department of the Army for his development of a portable clutch stand.

In 1957, Truel, Nita and the boys moved to the Hartville farm where Truel was born. Truel enjoyed farming and quail hunting. He and the boys shared many hunts and many stories. He also enjoyed a game of croquet or pool and riding his horses. He was an active member of the Hartville Saddle Club for several years. He was an avid gardener and always tried to grow the earliest and biggest tomato. As long as their health allowed, Truel and Nita attended Hartville Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Boyer, Aunt Dora and Uncle Tom Davis; sisters, Clara Edwards, Verba Newberry, her husband Fred, Mae Weaver, her husband Pete, and Thressa Williams and her husband Herman; brothers, Earl, and Everett, his wife Glennis; father and mother-in-law, John W. (Bill) and Allie Lawson; and brother-in-laws, Lee Parlier, his wife Zelda, Mark Walser, Carl Swager, Otis Meade and Tommy Walser.

Truel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nita; two sons, Ron and his wife, Karen McKinnis of Fair Grove, Missouri, and Glen and his wife, Terre, of Hartville, Missouri; Ron's family: Amy Cutler, and her husband, Chris; Noel, and his wife, Myria, and daughters, Mary and Lily; Dr. Ellen Ratcliff, and her husband, Dean; and Miles, and his wife, Kate, daughter Camille and son James; Glen's family: Lance, and his wife, Britany, and children Madelynne, Isaac and Ella; Luke, and his wife, Somer, and sons Andrew and Ian; and Grant, and his wife, Sara, and son Ben; sisters-in-law, Freeda Gradmelspacher, Lillian Swager, Dorlis Walser, and Alcie Walser; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Truel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His pride in his family was evident and his legacy of faith and love will live on in those that loved him.

"As arrows are in the hands of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them." Psalms 127:4-5a
