Don's paternal great grandparents were:
William Thom Adam (1793-1875) &
Margaret (Thomson) Adam (1821-abt. 1900).

Don's paternal grandparents were:
John Adam (1851/2 - 1923) &
Mahala Jane Haun, b. Apr. 29, 1860 in Santa Clara County, CA. and d. Feb. 20, 1916 in Imperial county, CA. (After John died, she marr. Thomas J. O'Neil.)

Donald was the second of two children born to:
William Zimry Adam, b. Jun. 26, 1879 in Gilroy, Santa Clara County, CA. and d. Aug. 29, 1964 in Monterey County, CA. &
Rosetta 'Rosie' Grace (Doty) Adam, b. 1876 and d. Feb. 6, 1928.

William Zimry and Rosetta Grace Doty married on Dec. 25, 1899.

Bill and Rosie Adam had two children:
1. Velma Adam, b. Sep. 1, 1901 in Monterey County, CA. and d. Jul. 18, 1987 in Monterey County, CA. She marr. Clyde Dayton, and after he passed away, Frank Roberson.
2. Donald R. Adam, b. 1904 and d. Aug. 24, 1916 in Monterey county, CA.

In the 1910 U.S. census, 5 yr. old Donald R. Adam, b. in CA., was not yet attending school and was living at Sanmiguel and Pleyto Road in San Antonio, Monterey, CA. with his
30 yr. old father, William B. Adam, a farmer on a truck farm, b. in CA.
32 yr. old mother, Rosette G. Adam, b. in CA.
8 yr. old sister, Velma A. Adam, b. in CA.
This was a first marriage for William and Rosette. They had been marr. for 10 years. Rosette was the mother of 2 children, both still alive by this census.

Donald had been sickly for some time, but still his sudden death in 1916 at the age of twelve was a loss to his family, keenly felt.

Brief excerpt from: Velma Dayton recalls friends of years gone by
My little brother passed away when he was twelve years old. He was very talented, and he could sit and play the violin and sing. He was not strong, born with organic heart trouble.
