Sarah Ella Litsey Layman was the second of the 10 children of James Litsey, Sr. and Mary Storm. She was born about 1810 probably in Hardin or Grayson County, Kentucky. She married Joakim Layman, the son of Michael Layman and Sarah Storm, about 1825 or 1826 in Grayson County, Kentucky.
