Anchorage resident, Patrick Scott Armstrong, Sr, 62, died on Friday, October 7, 2011 in Anchorage.

Patrick was born on July 22, 1949 in Hammond, Indiana to John Samuel and Roberta (Baumgardner) Armstrong. Pat grew up in Hebron, Indiana before moving with his family to Mekoryuk in 1966, where his parents were BIA teachers. The family also lived in Galena and Naknek. He attended school at Bethel Regional High School and graduated from East High School while participating in the Alaska State Boarding Program. He also attended college at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

Pat married Audrey Ambrose on January 9, 1971 in Naknek. Pat was a professional truck driver and a member of the Teamsters 959 for much of his career. He enjoyed trucking. Over the years, he worked for Air Van Lines, Benson Trucking in Anchorage, doing road construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline in Valdez and Tonsina, as well as the Red Dog Mine,and as an independent trucker on the Haul Road. Most recently he drove cement truck for Fairbanks S&G and AGGPRO in Anchorage. His friends and co-workers nicknamed him "Ice Road Trucker" and "Easy". Besides trucking, his passions were flying, motorcycle riding and drag racing. Patrick will always be remembered for his commitment to family and friends, his honesty, his kindness and work ethic.

Pat is survived by his wife of 40 years, Audrey Ambrose Armstrong, Anchorage, his daughter, Alicia (Kai) Bach, Denver,Colorado, his son Patrick Scott Armstrong, Jr., Anchorage; his mother Roberta Baumgardner Armstrong, Ft Meyers,Florida; two brothers John S. (Laura) Armstrong III, Robert W.(Anne) Armstrong, Fairbanks; and good friends Scott Perkins, Fred Hopkins, Michelle Ambrose and Wendy Nielson. He was preceded in death by his daughter April Anne Armstrong, his father John Armstrong II, and brother, Stephen Tracy Armstrong.

Patrick's wished to have his cremated remains be spread in Palmer near the graveside of his father and brother. A celebration of his life will be held in June 2012.
