Johnny "Pokey" Walters A resident of Port Allen, he died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Port Allen. He was 41.
Visiting at Hall Davis & Son Funeral Home, Port Allen, religious service, conducted by the Rev. Willie Singleton. Interment in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Port Allen.
He is survived by his parents, Earnest Matthews Sr. and Juanita Matthews; five sisters, Julia Porter, Rose Walters, Delores Moore, Juanita Scott and Michelle Walters; and six brothers, Earnest Matthews, Leo Walters, Terry Walters, Donald Ray Walters, Kevin Walters and Ronnie Walters.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny Walters; grandmother, Julia Walters; and an uncle, William Matthews.
He attended school in West Baton Rouge Parish, where he was also known as "Pokey." He was an all-around generous person who never said no to helping anyone. He was loved by everyone who knew him.
