REV. S.F. Bristow died at Colerain Friday For several years he was Methodist Minister: Then served many Baptist Churches in this Section
Elder S. F. Bristow, a Baptist minister of Colerain, died at his home there Friday morning, July 4th and was buried Saturday afternoon. He was 72 years of age, had been a minister for over 40 years. Born and reared in Northampton county, he was for 6 years a Methodist minister and since that time he has been active in the Baptist ministry, serving as pastor of 11 churches of this association besides at times being pastor near Washington, Elizabeth city, in Chowan county, Gates, and in Virginia.
In the burial service talks were made by three minister, R.B. Lineberry, T. E. Walters and L.E. Dailey and three laymen, J.H. Evans, S. A. Adams, and L.F. Catellos.
He leaves a widow by the second marriage and a number of children, grandchildren by the first marriage. He was buried at Colerain Baptist Church, of which church he was 9 years in succession from 1892 to 1901.
Son of Jesse Thomas Bristowe (1815-1892) and Louisa Jane Laura Britton (~1819-~1881) both of Northampton County, North Carolina.
Brother of Rev. James Emory Bristowe (1845-1911) and several others.
