NORTON - William Douglas (Doug) Norton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the age of 80 years.
He was born on February 3, 1928 in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Doug attended school at Tipperary School, Balcarres High School and Notre Dame College.
He played hockey with Notre Dame Hounds, Melville Millioniares, (Regina Pats), and Prince Albert Pintos.
He married Bunnie MacKay on November 18, 1950. They were mixed farmers, grain and cattle, on the homestead south of Balcarres.
Doug coached hockey and baseball for many years. He was a wonderful husband and father who will be remembered for his kind and gentle manner. Doug was well known for his friendly cheerful personalityalways a smile!
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy & Edna Norton (Perkins) and brothers, Harris and Lawrence. He is survived by his wife, Bunny, and five children: Terry & Debbie, Rand & Toni, Shelly & Gordon, Marsha & Donnie, Larry & Donna; grandchildren: Harley, Kyley, Nicole, Dion, Drew, Jocelyn, Brooks, Krystin, Krista, Jackie, Jason and Brianne; great grandchildren: Riley, Lexcy, Rylee & Sophia; one brother, Glen & Jeannette Norton.
The funeral service will be held in the St. Andrew's United Church, Balcarres, Sask. on Saturday February, 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Brian R. Mee officiating with interment of cremated remains in Balcarres Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Balcarres Integrated Care Center Memorial Fund, Box 340, Balcarres, Sask. SOG OCO.
