Karen was born Sept. 12, 1951, in Reno, Nev. Her late parents Chet and Nook Burrell were in the logging and ranching business in Modoc County, Calif. She attended primary schools in Keno, Ore., Davis Creek, Calif., and near Alturas, Calif. She graduated from Modoc High School with the class of 1969. Following high school, she completed cosmetology school in Sacramento, Calif. She resided in Alturas and Redding, Calif., for many years before returning to Modoc County in 2007.
Karen was both an accomplished cook and a talented seamstress. She was an expert in the canning of fruits and vegetables, loved crafting with her grandchildren, and excelled in knitting. She was an avid supporter of Modoc High School football, Alturas Little League, Davis Creek 4-H Club and the Alturas Jr. Livestock Show. She loved casino nights with her close friends and was a regular at the Davis Creek Store breakfasts.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chet and Nook Burrell, her brother Johnny Burrell and her foster brother Howard Wells.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Chet and Holly Blair of Battle Ground, Wash.; her son and daughter-in-law Scott and Katie Blair of Great Falls, Mont.; and her brother Mark Burrell of Gold River, Calif. Her survivors also include five grandchildren Robin, Dean, Quinn, Ty and Morgan. She also is survived by her sister-in-law Lucy Ketcherside; nieces Lynette Wells and Aliess Kingsley; and nephews Brad Burrell, Drew Burrell, Brian Burrell, Mike Wells and Andrew Wells.
