Samuel C. Barrett, 2nd, was born in Wood Co., (W.) Virginia, in 1814, the son of William C. Barrett, Sr. & Serena Luceny (Bailes). He was named after his grandfather & uncle by the same name.

Samuel Barrett, 2nd, married his 1st wife, Charlotte (Husband), in Muskingum Co., Ohio, on October 4, 1838, by Solomon Groves, J.P.

After their marriage, Samuel & Charlotte lived in the Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio, area in 1839 & 1842, and in his native Wood Co., (W.) Virginia, in 1845. Charlotte was from Maryland, and in 1847-1848, they were living in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland, where she died in August, 1848.

After the death of his firs wife, Samuel 2nd moved closer to his family to Washington Co., Ohio, which is across the river from his native Wood Co., (W.) Virginia.

Samuel Barrett (age 35, B-Va., Cooper) is listed on the 1850 Washington Co. (Belpre Twp.), Ohio, census with his kids: Mary E. (age 10, B-OH), Samuel E. (age 7, B-OH), Courtney A. (age 4, B-Va.), Walter W. (age 3, B-PA); and his sister, Frances (age 28, B-Va.) (no wife listed) #31-32

At the age of about 41, Samuel 2nd remarried to Mrs. Rosina Ann "Rosana" (White) Amlin, a widow with 4 Amlin children, in Washington Co., Ohio, on July 28, 1855. They were both residing in Fearing Township, Washington Co., Ohio, at the time of their marriage.

Samuel Barrett, Jr. (2nd) purchased a lot of land in the village of Murphy Mills (Murphytown), Wood County, W. Va. These lots of land were conveyed to the said Samuel Barrett Jr. by R M Johnson & M A. Farrow by deed bearing date May 1st 1867 [and by Henry Farson Jr by deed bearing date May 2d 1865] (Wood County Deed Book- see entries below)

Samuel Barrett Jr (2nd) TO Pardon C. Barrett, both of Wood County, 120 foot square lot on NW Turnpike near Murphy's Mill for $50 [Wood Co., WV, Deed Book 35, pg 301]

Samuel C. Barrett, 2nd, died suddenly of heart disease at Murphytown, Wood Co., W. Va.; He was found dead after having gone to sleep in his chair before the fire place; He also suffered from kidney disease.

He was buried in the Barrett-Grant Cemetery in Murphytown, W. Va., near his parents and second wife. There are fieldstone markers at he and his wife's at grave.
