Emil W. Dorf, Jr., 75, Monticello, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at his home.
Funeral service was Monday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m., at Resurrection Lutheran Church of Monticello. Rev. Lee Evenson offficiated. Interment will be at the Cokato Finnish Cemetery of Cokato. Visitation was Sunday, 3-6 p.m., at the church and also one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.
Emil was born in Silver Creek Township, Minn., to Emil W. and Elizabeth (McEachern) Dorf. He grew up in the Monticello area and attended and graduated from Monticello High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Mary Korpela on Nov. 2, 1963, and worked for many years at Prudential Insurance Company from which he retired. He also worked at the Silver Springs Golf Course of Monticello. He liked to golf and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Emily. He was a member of the Monticello American Legion Post #260, and a member of the 40/8.
Emil is survived by his wife; daughters, Robin, and Renee (Aaron) Suess; one granddaughter; brothers, John Dorf, Don (Gloria) Dorf; sisters, Vivian (Jay) Miller and Betty Herman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marlene Ordorff.
Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
