Clyde Wayne Atchison, age 88, of Williamsville, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011. He was born January 21, 1923 to the late Benjaman Atchison and Ethyl Laura (Weese) Atchison, in Round Spring, MO. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, from which he received four bronze stars, he also served six months in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Clyde worked as maintenance in the manufacturing industry in the St. Louis area. He retired to Williamsville area in 1985 and was known as an all around fix-it man. Clyde was a Christian and attended Assembly of God Church in Williamsville, MO. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, swimming and trips in January to Florida. He was known as " Uncle Clyde" to everyone.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Clara M. Barney, Daisy M. Bisi, Violet D. Riggs, Opal F. Alexander, four brothers, Benjaman Oscar Atchison, Darrell Eugene Atchison, Lyndell H. Atchison, Franklin D. Atchison.
He is survived by two brothers, Earl O. (Ruth) Atchison of Stuart, FLA; Joseph A. (Geraldine) Atchison, of Fort Branch, IND; and two sisters Arlie E. Hopper of Desoto, MO, Jewel G. (Ralph) Henson, of St. Peters, MO. two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Atchison of Lee Summit, MO, and Mary Jane Atchison of Poplar Bluff, MO; one brother-in-law, Junior Alexander of St. Ann, MO. Along with several nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Assembly of God Church in Williamsville, MO at 10:00 a.m. for family and from 11:00 – 12:00 for public viewing. Funeral services followed at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Helen Edwards officiated the ceremonies. Pallbearers were Darrell Atchison, Andrew Atchison, Bruce Atchison, Dave Atchison, Ed Smith and Scott Alexander. Interment followed at Holliday Cemetery in Williamsville, MO.
