PENELOPE ANDERSON, b. 1798, Barnwell District of South Carolina, d. 1883 in Medulla, Polk County, Florida is the daughter of Revolutionary War veteran, JOSEPH ANDERSON (1758-1848) & SARAH ANDERSON (1770-1855). At about the age of 11, PENELOPE'S father moved his family Bulloch County, Georgia where he acquired 500 acres of land and began farming as his land was cleared. PENELOPE and her nine (9) siblings were raised there.

At age 20, PENELOPE married SILAS MCCLELLAND (1795-1875), October 29, 1818, in Bulloch County, Georgia. SILAS died August 1, 1875, Medulla, Polk County, Florida. PENELOPE and SILAS moved to Irwin County, Georgia before 1830 and then to Hamilton County Florida, about 1833. Both are interred in ALFRED W. LUNN CEMETERY, Polk County, Florida.

PENELOPE & SILAS had three (3) children, two (2) sons and one (1) daughter;
1. JOHN LANE, b. 1820 in Tattnall County, Georgia, d. June 24, 1872, Polk County, Florida.;

2. DORA ANN PENELOPE, born January 14, 1830, d. September 1, 1884. Married BERRIEN PLATT (1833-1913).;

3. JESSE, b. June 6, 1836, Thomas County, Georgia, d. November 27, 1912, Frostproof, Polk County, Florida.
