March 2, 1935 - November 26, 2011 TULSA Daniel William Brown, 76, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011, in Tulsa, OK. Born March 2, 1935 in Oklahoma City, OK to Mart D. and Rita Ruth(Rogers) Brown. He was a McGraw Realtor for 24 years. Daniel was relentless in his efforts to give back to the Tulsa community through sponsoring and directing the Tulsa Zoo Run, co-founding the Lights On at Whittier Square and the McGraw Community Food Bank Drive. Daniel turned the Zoo Run into one of the largest fundraisers for the Tulsa Zoo. He also served as President of the Tulsa Running Club. Daniel was a loving and cherished father, grandfather and husband, who made friends easily and made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his kind smile and easy laugh. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He played centerfielder on the Varsity Baseball Team where he was an OU All-Time Letterwinner in Baseball from 1955-1956, a Collier's All American and offered several professional baseball contracts. Daniel played basketball, baseball and football at Classen High School in Oklahoma City, OK where he received eight letters including All-State in baseball and All-Conference football and basketball. Preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Daniel W. Brown, Jr.; sister, Rosemary Starks. Survived by his wife of 42 years and partner in the Real Estate business, Linda Hazen Brown; daughters, Lindsay and her husband, Michael Sowell of Louisville, KY, and Malissa and her husband, Robert Welke of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Michael Blake Sowell, Lindsay Alexander Sowell, and Henry Aspin Welke; sister, Linda and her husband, Robert Bowles of Oklahoma City, OK; also survived by his wife's many loving siblings and their families. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 2, 2011 at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, where Daniel served on the Administrative Board.
