DOVER Clair W. Fickes, 89, died 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 23, 2007, at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Anna L. (Brunk) Fickes, with whom he celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary November 2, 2007. He was born May 10, 1918, in Dover, a son of the late Harry V. and Lillie A. (Brillhart) Fickes. Clair was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as an engineer. He had 35 years of service in the maintenance department of York International. Clair was a member of Dover Bethany U.M. Church where he had been a Sunday school treasurer and Dover Bethany Cemetery treasurer. He was also a member of Dover Lions Club. He enjoyed stamp collecting. In addition to his wife, Clair is survived by a son, Wayne F. Fickes of York; a daughter, Linda L. Conner of Cocati, Calif; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Jean M. Neiman of Dover. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Fickes; a granddaughter; four brothers, Curvin Fickes, James R. Fickes, Charles E. Fickes, and Edward C. Fickes; and a sister, Helen Davidson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral 11 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2007 at Dover Bethany U.M. Church, 4510 Bull Rd., Dover and the viewings from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Dover Bethany Cemetery. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Brad Gilbert.
