Goldie E. (Hall) Clifford, 84, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family following a brief illness on Monday, November 22, 2010.
She was born in Unity, Maine on February 7, 1926 the daughter of the late Etta (Lyons) Hall and Frederick Hall. She was the step-daughter of the late Ellsworth Marr.
Goldie spent her formative years in Norway, Maine and graduated from Norway High School with the Class of 1943. She attended Secretarial School in Portland, Maine and began her career as a Secretary with C.B. Cummings Co. of Norway, Maine. She has been a resident of Natick for over 40 years and previously resided in Millis for several years. For many years she was the Office Manager for the Natick Racquet Club and retired after several years as the Office Manager at Region West in Newton.
She and her husband Ron were members of the Square Riggers of Wellesley and loved to square dance. She was the Past President of the Square Riggers. They were the recipients of the lifetime achievement award, known as the Yankee Clipper Award, for their efforts and support of the square dance community. While residing in Natick they were active with the First Congregational Church in Natick. In her earlier years, Goldie spent many hours as an active member of the PTA in Natick for her children. She also served the Town of Natick as a Town Meeting member for many years. She loved to travel with her husband and children and will be remembered for her devotion to her family as they were the center of her life.
Goldie is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Ronald W. Clifford. She was the loving mother of Barry W. Clifford and his wife Rose and Beth E. Clifford and her fiancÚ Dennis Connolly. Cherished grandmother of Mark Green, Christopher Green, Maeve Clifford, and Owen Clifford.
