Zelda Ramsey Ballard
MARS HILL: Zelda Ramsey Ballard, 85 of 170 S. Main Street went to be with Jesus Tuesday, August 14, 2007. A native of Madison County, she was born May 1, 1922 in the Laurel Community, the daughter of the late Dock Wellington and Octavia Willis Ramsey and was a member of California Creek Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated the Murray Mountain Service Station and Café for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. D. Ballard, brother, Glenn Ramsey and step son, Dean Ballard.
Surviving is a son, Arnold Dean and wife Martha of Mars Hill, daughter, Connie Rayburn of Buncombe County, grandchildren; Tara Dean of Hillsborough, Heather Rayburn and husband Ben Gillum of Asheville, Faith Buckner and husband Lee of Leicester, Darrick Ballard and wife Jacque of Mars Hill, Danny Ballard and wife Colleen of Brevard, three great-grandson and three great granddaughters, sisters; Oval Buckner and husband Jon of Candler and Robbie Ramsey Anderson of Mars Hill, brother, Jimmy Ramsey and wife Joan of Mars Hill, two nieces; Ruth Lennon and Nan Agnew, four nephews; Bobby Carter, Ray Carter, Brian Ramsey all of Mars Hill and Mark Buckner of Virginia.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 18th in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The Revs Eb Jenkins and Delbert Burnett will officiate. Burial will follow in the California Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be; David Carter, Dustin and Clint Ramsey, Jessie and Casey Schroader and Jon P. Buckner.
