Feb. 17, 1932 -April 17, 2008 INDIANAPOLIS -
Donald L. Cripe, age76, of Indianapolis, died Thursday morning, April 17, 2008.
He was born Feb. 17, 1932, to Oliver and Verma Cripe of Middlebury, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; three daughters, Linda (Bret) Thurmond of Athens, Ga., Lori (Jonathan) Swallow of Elkhart and Lisa Cripe of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Michael and Elisabeth Thurmond, Sydney Swallow and Connor and Chase (Cripe) Watkins; two sisters, Jaci (AJ) Walter of Arbo Vitae, Wis., and Dee (Bill) Todd of Bristol; one brother, Jerry D. Cripe of Elkhart; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a 1950 graduate of Middlebury High School, where he played basketball, and of Fort Wayne International Business College. He served with the U. S. Army in Korea. He was employed at Salem Bank and after retirement worked for Westside Furniture in Goshen and the Indianapolis Car Exchange. He served as Goshen City Councilman from 1968 to 1976. In 1995, he authored and published a children's book "The Lonely Christmas Tree." Family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 20, at 12:45 p.m.
at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Robertson Chapel, Indianapolis, with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flower s, memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent Hospice or St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel.
