Audrey was born the daughter of Orlando & Mollie Molitor Young. She grew up in Slayton and attended Slayton High School graduating Valedictorian of her class in 1940. Following high school Audrey worked as District Clerk for a telephone company in Park Ridge, IL for four years. On June 5, 1946 she and Robert Ahrens were married at St. Ann's Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they lived in Slayton and worked at the Mint Cafe with Robert's father. In 1961 they purchased the Cafe and ran it until they retired and sold the business in 1983. Robert passed away on September 23, 1983. Audrey remained in their home until October 2007 when she became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton where she passed away. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in Slayton and was active in the W.C.C.W. Audrey enjoyed bowling, puzzles, and touring in her blue Chevy. Audrey loved spending time with family and holidays especially 4th of July and Christmas.
