A memorial service with military honors for Bruce Forbes Austin, 63, of Moultrie, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Cooper officiating.

Mr. Austin died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Born June 19, 1947, in Salem, Mass., he was the son of Marian Forbes Austin Rhinehold and the late John Henry Austin. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a sheet metal worker with Comfort Systems U.S.A. (formerly Neel Mechanical) in Thomasville. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to his mother of Hendersonville, N.C., are his wife, Pamela Claire Davis Austin of Moultrie; six children, Bruce "Bo" Austin Jr., Amy Thompson and husband Michael, Melissa Khaophachanh and husband Souriya, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Melissa Smith and fiancé Bruce Cooper and Travis Smith, all of Thomasville, and Julie Smith of Chapel Hill, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Taj Austin, Mikey Thompson, Carys Khaophachanh, Alexx Smith, Marcus Cooper, Dylan Smith and Stella Smith; one brother, Glen Austin and wife Aline of Cairo; one sister, Linda Brown and husband Raymond of Hendersonville, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123-1718. — Cobb Funeral Chapel
