26 OTU's Vickers Wellington X (#HE928) aircraft, with an aircrew of four, took off during daylight from RAF Wing on a bomb training flight. During the bombing practice, which took place over Buckinghamshire's Hogshaw Range, HE928 tragically collided with 26 OTU's Wellington (#LN540), resulting in both aircraft's crashing near Winslow's railway line.

The aircrew of HE928 who perished in this unfortunate training accident were-

RAFVR Sergeant Robert James BORLAND,

RAFVR Sergeant Albert BRIERLEY,

RAFVR Flight Sergeant Victor Arnold THOMPSON and

RAFVR Flight Lieutenant Douglas Louis WIX.
