WOMAN PIONEER CALLED BEYOND
MRS. C.T. BURROWS DIED YESTERDAY AT THE ADVANCED AGE OF 84 YEARS

Death yesterday claimed another pioneer. Mrs. C. T. Burrows passed away at her home in this city yesterday morning at the advanced age of 84 years. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. from her late home at 153 Lassen street and interment will be made at the Chrome cemetery.
Mrs. C. T. Burrows was one among the very first settlers of this county, having come with her late husband, Rufus C.[sic] Burrows, from Oregon in the early fifties and settled on a ranch in the Newville country where she passed an eventful life. The part of the county that the couple selected for their home was then wild and infested with hostile Indians and many are the tales of hardship and adventure that she experienced.
The deceased was a good Christian woman and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. After the death of her husband some six years ago she moved to this city to live out her allotted time. For two years she has been in very poor health and required constant nursing, but under all of her afflictions she remained cheerful and kindly of spirit.
Mrs. Burrows is survived by the following children: Alonzo Burrows of Sites, Mrs. Mary Millsaps of Chrome, Mrs. J. W. Millsaps of this city, A. C. Burrows of Chrome, Mrs. Annie Markham and Mrs. Thomas Jameson of this city. – Transcribed by E.
