Edwin Otto Anderson, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died June 12, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Funeral services were held June 16 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls.
Edwin was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Arthur and Pauline (Nieman) Anderson. After graduating from Little Falls High School with the class of 1945, Edwin served in the U.S. Army Air Corp at the end of WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre (Phillipines). Ed worked at Victor Clothing in Little Falls before a long and devoted career in the boating industry working at Larson Watercraft. He was united in marriage in 1958 to Mary Rasmussen at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls. Following their marriage, Ed and Mary lived in Little Falls where he worked at Larson Boat Works in sales until his retirement in 1993. He continued to work at Larson (Genmar) until his death serving in a variety of tasks including the sharing of his vast knowledge of historical data on boats to dealers and individuals throughout the United States. Ed was instrumental in the development and publication of a recent book published by Genmar on the history of Larson Boats. Edwin was very active throughout his life in his church in many capacities, including the preparation of Zion Lutheran's 100th anniversary celebration in 2001, serving on various boards and committees, Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir, playing in the handbell choir and delivering Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed researching family genealogy and developed publications from the Anderson and Nieman family histories. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, antiquing, gardening, being a Northern Pacific Railfan and enjoying life with his loving wife, Mary.
Ed is survived by his wife Mary; children Mark and wife Suzanne (Bollman) of Ramsey, MN, Deborah Anderson and friend Pat Owens of Roxboro, NC, Steven and wife Elizabeth of St. Joseph, MN, and Elizabeth Anderson and fiance Brian Westemeier of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers, Arnold Anderson and Burton Anderson and wife Mary, all of Little Falls; four grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Justin and Grant; and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
