Birth: Oct. 10, 1862, Sweden
Death: Jun. 5, 1944

Minnesota, USA

Amanda was born in Solkaryd Norregard Farm, Skepperstad Parish, Smaland, Sweden. She was the wife of Johan Isak Anderson born in 1854 in Sweden and died in 1941 in Sweden. They had one child, Carl E. Anderson born in 1898. Johan and Carl went back to Sweden, but Amanda remained in the USA. Amanda was a sister to Anna Hoffstedt.

Amanda left Solkaryd on November 14, 1892 the year she was married to Johan. She decided to go to America alone and left Goteborg, Sweden for America arriving on October 5, 1893. Amanda came to America the first time on board the Majestic Ship, which had departed Liverpool, England. After three years, Johan went to America and they started farming in the Moline, Illinois area on an 80 acre farm. Their first house was a sod house.

They moved to Deerwood, Minnesota area until 1919/1920 when the family moved back to Sweden. Johan purchased the farm at Skogsdill that he was born on near Korsberga on March 24, 1920. Amanda returned to America on May 20, 1922 as Johan was despotic and always quarrelling with her. Amanda came to America on board the Stockholm Ship which departed Goteborg, Sweden.
Amanda worked for a family in Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, Minnesota near Little Falls and they were not very kind to her. Amanda was a sister to Anna Hoffstedt and after Anna's husband, Carl Axel, died, Amanda lived with Anna on her farm near Randall, Minnesota. Johan and Amanda had three children but only Carl lived.

Amanda suffered a fractured hip by falling on steps at her sister's, Anna, house and became ill in the hospital with bronchial pneumonia which caused her death.
