Elmdale was again the scene of a very sad funeral last Sunday afternoon when James C. Hanson was laid to rest in the Free Evangelical Cemetery beside the little grave of his baby son who died last August. Rev. S.S. Farley of Little Falls officiated at the funeral and those who sang were Mrs. Mark Gunderson, Mrs. Elmer Madson and Mrs. Geo Madson. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity and the doors had to be left open so all those who could not get in could hear the service standing in the hall and crowding about the door outside. The floral offerings from the Christian Endeavor Society and individuals were beautiful and highly appreciated by the family. Mr. Hanson had been afflicted with diabetes for a few years, but his condition was not considered serious until very recently when it was decided that he should go to the Twin Cities for treatment at a hospital. But in the meantime, he became very ill with a carbuncle on his neck and was taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls for treatment, where he died shortly after. At the time of his death he was about 39 years of age. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss. The age of his children range from 16 to two years; they are: Myrtle, Eva, Harry, Doris, Lester, Stella and Goldie. He also leaves two brothers, George Walters who lives on a farm in Swan River and Nels Walters who resides in the state of Idaho, and a sister Mrs. Gilbert Sorenson of Sauk Centre. The family has the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.
The Christian Endeavor meeting, which was to have been held at James Hanson's next Sunday , has been indefinitely postponed.
