MONTGOMERY -- David J. Graber, 98, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1910, to Jacob and Fannie (Jones) Graber in Mylo, N.D., and lived and farmed there until he moved to Indiana in 1947. He was a pastor of Brea Mennonite Church for 28 years, where he served the Lord faithfully. He is survived by five daughters, Lily Mae (Amos) Wittmer, Betty Jean Raber and Martha (Henry Wittmer, all of Montgomery, Marge (Ezra) Beachy and Fran (Darrell) Stoll, all of Washington; four sons, Gary (Ada) Graber, Lowell (Maribeth) Graber and Galen (Marilyn) Graber, all of Montgomery, and John (Lucy) Graber of Elkhart; one brother, Toby Graber of Mylo, N.D.; one sister, Mattie Slaubaugh of Sarasota, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Edith (Slaubaugh) Graber, whom he was married to for more than 75 years, died Nov. 17, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph Graber, Nathaniel Graber and Amos Graber; one sister, Amelia Slabauch; one grandson, Nelson Wittmer; one infant granddaughter; two sons-in-law, Danny Raber and Dr. Richard Graber. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Berea Mennonite Church, with Ed Graber, Shawn Ott and Chris Raber officiating. Burial will be in Berea Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the Berea Mennonite Church Mission Fund, Mennonite Central Committee or Gideon's Memorial Bible Fund. Arrangements are being made through Ed Lee Mortuary.
