PAMPLICO — Margie Mae Hicks Ard, 63, of 410 Catfish Lane, died Monday, May 15, 2006, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Ard was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Curtis and Ona Mae Lee Hicks. She was a retired postal clerk with the United States Postal Service in Pamplico. She was a member of Pamplico First Baptist Church, the Joy Club, the Church Circle and served as the first female deacon at Pamplico First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Nicki Allison Ard.

Surviving are two sons, Sammie (Robin) Ard of Pamplico and Ken (Tammy) Ard of Evergreen; a sister, Evelea Threadgill of Florence; and five grandchildren, Katelyn and Bradley Ard, and Jesse, Mason, and Libby Ard.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in First Baptist Church of Pamplico. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery in Pamplico directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Sammie and Robin Ard, 415 Catfish Lane, Pamplico.
