Birth: Apr. 13, 1927
Death: Apr. 17, 2011

James Tillman Allison, 84, of Mustang, OK, died April 17, 2011, with his loving family by his side. James was born April 13, 1927 in Empire, OK to Roy & Eunice Allison. He was the youngest of 6 children. James attended school at Empire, Corum and Comanche. On Oct. 7, 1950 in Duncan, OK, he married Delores Harrell. They had 2 sons, Randy and Steve. In 1945 James enlisted in the Navy Seabees, serving 9 years with time in the South Pacific during WWII. While on leave, he met the love of his life, and as he would tell the story "on the street corner in Marlow." After his military enlistment, they moved to OKC, where he owned and operated Allison's Redding 66 Service Station for 27 years. In 1967, he opened Allison Lawn & Garden and began his love and career as a John Deere dealer. Truly his blood ran green. James did not wait until retirement to enjoy life and do the things he wanted; he enjoyed life every day at work, greeting each customer with a "hello hello" and an opportunity for a new friendship. Retirement from the business was merely mandatory due to health in 2001 after 34 years of enjoyment. James Allison was a man of integrity; a handshake with James was as binding as any contract ever written. He was a member of the Myrtle Masonic Lodge #145 and a member of Mayridge Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and on various committees. Always compassionate and generous, James lived his life serving God and helping those around him. James was extremely proud of his loving family. Always prompt to reveal they were a blessing to him, he is survived by his wife, Delores, of the home; two sons: Randy Allison & wife Roxie of Seminole, OK; and Steve Allison & wife Denise of Altus, OK; 5 grandchildren: Jamie Allison & wife Tammy of Elk City, OK; Renee Smalley & husband Stephen of Highland Village, TX; Rory Allison & wife Nicola of Stillwater, OK; Stephanie Bristow & husband Cody of Hinton, OK; and Rachel Fixico & husband Devin of Seminole, OK; blessed by 8 great-grandchildren: Alisen & Bayler Bristow, Parker & Aubree Allison, Zane & Sky Smalley, and Kaylie & Tillman Allison; brother-in-law, Joe Harrell & wife Bette of Lawton, OK; 2 sisters-in-law: Grace Allison of Temple, TX; and Jeanie Allison of Comanche, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Eunice; 3 brothers: Alton, Roy E. and John; and 2 sisters: Lucille Pribble and Mary Randolph. Viewing & visitation will be 4-8 PM today, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Lakes. Services to celebrate his home going will be held on 2:00 PM, Wed., April 20, 2011, at Mayridge Baptist Church, 4617 S. May Ave., with burial to follow at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes.
