Last Thursday evening H.E. Allen's of Florid received the sad news of the death of Mrs. Joe Allen, who had been sick for a week with double pneumonia, she being a frail person, could not endure it, so she closed her eyes in death Thursday evening, April 5, 1928 at 7 o'clock, her husband and children all present at the time of her passing. She will be greatly missed for she was a good kind wife and mother and neighbor, her age being 70 years, and 6 months. She leaves her heart-broken husband, three sons, Frank of Sparland, Clyde of near McNabb and Floyd at home, also three daughters, Mrs. Will Mills of Clear Creek; Mrs. Guy Davis of Granville and Mrs. Albert Crew of near Henry, also 16 grandchildren, one brother, Rufus Blessing of Chanute, Kansas, who was here at the time of her passing way, one half-brother, Charles Allen of Ottawa and one half-sister, Mrs. Carrie Odekirk of Chicago, besides a host of friends and relatives.
