Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, Florid, Dies; Aged 61

Saturday, July 14th, the spirit of Mrs. Elizabeth Allen of Florid, a valued correspondent for the News Republican a number of years, took its flight after a long and painful illness during all of which time she was lovingly cared for by her husband and daughters. All was done that loving hands could do, but God took her Home and the home here will be empty and lonely indeed since the dear one has departed, but we commend them to the One whose love health all wounds and binds up the broken-hearted.
Elizabeth Ellen Reichwine was born to Isaac and Anna Reichwine near Sheridan, Berks County, PA, April 13th 1867, being at the time of her death 61 years, 3 months and one day of age. At the age of six years, she came with her parents to Illinois. She was united in marriage to Harvey E. Allen of Florid, Dec. 17th, 1889 at Hennepin.
To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Lela Deininger of Ottawa, Mrs. Blanche Edwards and Mrs. Gladys Donoho of Florid.

Mrs. Allen was at one time a member of the German Evangelical church but later united with the Presbyterian church at Florid and has been a faithful follower of her Heavenly Father up to the time of her death. Her Bible was a constant friend during her illness. For her the struggles of life are ended and like one who awakes from a troubled dream she has awakened to see life's endless morning break and finds herself at home with dear ones gone on before.

She leave to mourn their loss her husband and three daughters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, and were attended by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Rev. R. H. Barstead of Farm Ridge, made the opening prayer. Rev. A. H. Levine delivered the burial service at the grave. At the home, Rev. and Mrs. Barstead sand several appropriate selections in a very impressive way.

The pallbearers were Frank Allen, Clyde Allen and Floyd Allen, Will Mills, Guy Davis and Albert Crews, nephews of H. E. Allen. Interment was in the Florid cemetery. Friends extend their heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Allen and daughters, also to the grandchildren, Berneice Deininger and Dean Donoho.
