Lillian G. Carlson , 91, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the Clear Lake Baptist Cemetery in Severance Township, Sibley County.

Visitation is 5 - 8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Glenn Hughes of Big Fork, Betty and Clem Leonard of Pequot Lakes; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and brothers, Ormal Bleck of Sleepy Eye, Leon Black of Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd W. Carlson on Jan. 6, 1967; brother, Melvin Black; and sisters-in-law, Addie Black and Evelyn Bleck.

She was born on May 28, 1910, in Wellington Township, Renville County to Leonard and Ida (Waknitz) Black. She married Lloyd W. Carlson on Oct. 3, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. They farmed in rural Gibbon and Klossner and in Cottonwood Township, Brown County from 1944 to 1967. In 1974 she moved to New Ulm. She later moved to Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye. She had been a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center for the past two years.
